Now playing for an unlimited time in Clovis, New Mexico.
Seriously
though, in Baltimore, Maryland, some years ago, they had an urban homesteading
program where people with a little money, and a little gumption, could buy an
abandoned house for one dollar. A single buck.
Now, they had to commit to fixing
it up and live in it for a certain number of years, but then it was theirs, free and clear. If they could do this in Baltimore (a tough town by any standard),
maybe it could be done here. Unlike Baltimore, and a lot of closer towns I could name, Clovis is not losing population, it's growing, creating a real demand for good, affordable housing. Anybody out there still have that pioneer spirit?
