A Land of Wind and Cows

When my grandmother left Quay County for points east, back in 1917, she complained, "There's nothing here but wind and cows." She might like the place better today, what with faster transportation, TV and the Internet, though she still wouldn't like the wind. But she would have to admit one thing: the wind is worth a lot more than it used to be.
