Author J. Frank Dobie enlightened young writer

(Santa Fe New Mexican) Before his death in 1964, J. Frank Dobie had won laurels as one of our premier regional authors. Some of his colleagues had gone so far as to knight him with the title “Mr. Southwest.” More a homespun teller of tales than a historian and great stylist, Dobie, nevertheless, wrote about simple things in an intelligent and lucid manner.
